The Municipality used WhistlerQuest in a highly participatory and collaborative process to consider alternative development scenarios for the city. Transportation Future: Getting There Together, a two-year process to identify the state’s transportation needs for a new generation of users, was recently honored for “Best Practices in Smart Growth and Transportation” from the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials. Idaho’s visioning process included innovative scenario planning that has been recognized by the Federal Highways Administration for excellence in scenario planning. Participants, equipped with wireless keypad polling handsets, registered their values and priorities and collaborated on the creation and evaluation of alternative development scenarios using MetroQuest. >> Read "Best Practicies in Smart Growth and Transporation" as PDF Summit demystifies integrated community sustainability planning The Alberta Urban Municipal Association’s President's Summit introduced municipalities to best practices in Integrated Community Sustainability Planning (ICSP). The summit was a much needed response to new directions from the Prime Minister and Minister John Godfrey requiring communities to develop an ICSP to receive infrastructure funding from the new gas tax. Municipal leaders were introduced to ICSP in hands-on workshops with MetroQuest, The Natural Step, and Sustainable Communities. Case studies of best practices included presentations by Calgary, Whistler and Greater Vancouver.
